In Lecture 7, The Work, Professor Martin Harrison asks the following questions:
“Where is the younger audience?”
“How can we market reading and entice readers to engage with books?”
“Without a media presence is it possible to gain a readership?”
By choosing to disseminate my work on Facebook, I believe I am answering Martin’s questions. Where is the younger audience? Well, they are flocking online by the masses, using social networking sites such as Facebook.
“With over 500 million users, Facebook is now used by 1 in every 13 people on Earth, with over 250 million of them (over 50%) who log in every day.” From Google search engine page: Facebook Statistics, Stats & Facts for 2011 (Tuesday, January 18, 2011)

If businesses and advertisers are taking the opportunity to employ social media as a strategic marketing tool, then why can’t authors do the same in selling their work and ideas? Instead of trying to resist the times, why not submit and go where the popular culture resides in order to engage and connect with as many potential readers as possible.
